• Valfather is part of Highland Park’s “Viking Legend” series; specifically it is the final (third) release in that trilogy.

• Maturation: It is matured entirely (or claimed to be) in refill casks so that the whisky’s character (especially peat) can shine through. 

• Peat / smoke influence: According to Highland Park, this is their most peated whisky to date (within their own range) at the time of release. Packaging & design: The whisky is themed after the Norse god Odin (the “All‑Father” or “Valfather” = “Father of the Slain”) and the bottle/box artwork comes from designer Jim Lyngvild. 

Tasting Profile & Style

• Nose: Crisp apple, fragrant pear, subtle vanilla, toasted cedarwood, followed by aromatic peat smoke. 

• Palate: Creamy vanilla and crème brûlée style sweetness, toasted cedar/wood, warming paprika, then the peat and smoke show more strongly.

• Finish: Long‑lasting floral‑smoke character balancing with fruit and subtle wood/spice.

• Style wise: It still carries Highland Park’s typical coastal / heathery peat signature (less medicinal/iodine than many Islay malts) but ramped up compared to their core range.
