Tasting Profile & Style

• Compared to typical Highland Park expressions, Valkyrie has a higher peat/smoke influence — the distillery describes it as “liquorice lantern smoke”. Key flavour and aroma notes as gathered from multiple sources:

  • Nose: green apples, dried apricot/plum, zesty orange, spice/wood smoke.

  • Palate: rich dried fruits, vanilla, dried apple, waves of smoke and wood spice. Finish: licorice, dark chocolate, fruit, return of smoke. 

• On the “Distiller” site it’s noted to use a greater proportion of Orkney peated malt compared to HP’s usual level.
